Emera Maine customers to see rate changes July 1

Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — Starting July 1, Emera Maine customers will see changes in electricity delivery rates.

A typical residential customer in the Bangor Hydro District, using 500 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month and choosing the Standard Offer for electricity supply, will now pay $90.48 per month, a decrease of 17 cents. A typical residential customer in the Maine Public District will now pay $73.62 per month, an increase of $3.57.

Electricity prices are made up of five components: distribution, transmission, stranded costs, conservation and supply. Emera Maine provides transmission and distribution services to electricity customers.

Effective July 1, a typical residential customer in the Bangor Hydro District will pay:

  • $31.82 for distribution
  • $18.00 for transmission
  • $3.31 for stranded costs
  • $1.22 for conservation
  • $36.13 for Standard Offer supply

A typical residential customer in the Maine Public District will pay:

  • $31.17 for distribution
  • $4.63 for transmission
  • ($0.52) for stranded costs
  • $1.22 for conservation
  • $37.12 for Standard Offer supply

Emera Maine continues to invest in hardening the system against storms, providing timely customer service, and identifying and removing more trees and limbs in declining health that may cause power interruptions as they break or fall.

All new rates will be posted at emeramaine.com as of July 1, 2018.
