Release Date: 12-20-2018Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — In anticipation of a strong wind and rain event predicted for the area on Friday and Saturday, December 21-22, Emera Maine is prepared to restore any potential outages safely and efficiently. Meteorologists are predicting heavy rain from the storm that is expected to pass through Maine over the next 48 hours, with strong winds and wind gusts in excess of 55 miles-per-hour that could cause trees and tree limbs to fall onto power lines causing outages, especially along the coast. “Emera Maine is readying crews and contractors to handle reports of downed wires, assess damage and make repairs to restore service as safely and as quickly as possible before the holiday,” said Lisa Martin, Emera Maine storm manager. Additionally, Emera Maine is prepared to answer customer calls, perform dispatch services and assist with other logistics of restoration. Customers should prepare for power outages by having water, flashlights and batteries on hand. If you see a line down or a tree in contact with a downed power line, call emergency responders and Emera Maine. Never try to cut a tree down that is touching a power line, and never walk near or drive over a downed line.
