Bangor Hydro Electric Company and Maine Public Service Company announce Heat Pump Pilot Program

Monday, October 15, 2012

Bangor, ME-- Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service are rolling out a heat pump program for up to 500 customers in each service territory. The Heat Pump Pilot is designed to save customers money as the winter heating season quickly approaches. The program offers financial incentives for residential and small commercial customers to purchase and install energy efficient heat pumps.

Rebates of $600 are available for the first 330 customers who commit to the program. On-bill financing will be available for up to 500 customers in each service territory.

The Heat Pump Pilot Program is intended to encourage the use of efficient heat pumps as a supplemental heating source in those areas of your home or business where you spend the most time.

"Heat pump technology isn't new, but newer units are rated to perform much better in cold climates," said Gerry Chasse, President and COO of Bangor Hydro Electric Company and Maine Public Service. "New, energy efficient units can be a very cost-effective, supplemental heat source, providing as much as 80 to 90 percent of the necessary heat over the winter months at less than half the cost of oil."

Customers can find details of the program, including the application, heat-pump specifications and registered installers at bangorhydro.com or mainepublicservice.com or by calling Bangor Hydro's customer service center at 207-947-2414 or 800-499-6600 or Maine Public Service's customer service center at 207-760-2300 or 877-655-4448.
