Bangor Hydro Electric Company Announces New President and Chief Operating Officer
Bangor, ME-- Chris Huskilson, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Bangor Hydro Electric Company, has announced that Robert J.S. Hanf is the new President and Chief Operating Officer for Bangor Hydro. Prior to his position with Bangor Hydro, Hanf acted as General Counsel for Emera Inc., and its affiliates, where he and his internal legal team provided legal and regulatory services to Emera and its various operating subsidiaries in Canada and the Northeast United States. Before joining Emera in 2002, he was Partner in the law firm of McCarthy Tétrault LLP, Calgary, Alberta, specializing in energy law.
"I'm amazed at the warm welcome I've received so far in Bangor," said Hanf. "I feel right at home."
Hanf is a graduate of Dalhousie University Law School and holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Prince Edward Island. He recently completed the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors, University of Toronto. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society and the Law Society of Alberta. Hanf is also a member of the American Bar Association. Bob is a Commissioned Officer in the Reserves.
"I plan to continue Bangor Hydro's commitment to promoting economic growth," said Hanf. "I look forward to working with new and existing business to find energy solutions that best fit their needs."
Hanf has been involved in various volunteer activities including serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Calgary Opera Association and as a Founding Director of the Inn from the Cold Society, St. Stephen's Anglican Church.
"I strongly believe in supporting and enhancing the community in which I live," said Hanf. "I'm particularly proud of the efforts Bangor Hydro employees have made in reaching their goal for the 2007 United Way Campaign. I look forward to continuing these efforts."
Hanf plans to reside in the Bangor area.
